An Indiana Dept of Ed program with Taiwan?

I became involved with the Teaching in Taiwan program through the Indiana Department of Education. This is the second year in which Taiwan and Indiana have agreed to exchange teachers. The Indiana teachers must have current Indiana licensure and teaching experience. So, four Indiana teachers are going to Taiwan this year while two Taiwanese teachers are coming to Indiana to teach Chinese in two Indiana school corporations. We are hoping to exchange teaching techniques, excourage language development in both English and Chinese, and develop better understandings of the two cultures. My personal hope is to encourage future teachers graduating from Franklin College to get to know another culture through a teaching exchange program. What a wonderful way to experience another part of the world!

Linda,
Remember us? We were the guinea pigs who did this last year.
We got your blog address from the DOE. We're so excited for you and the others! We can't wait to hear how it goes. Don't hesitate to email or skype us anytime! You can get our email address from Kristy. We don't have skype at home yet.
We're a little jealous that we're not going with you guys! We're already missing our friends and unbelievably...even some of the food! Be sure to try "frog egg milk tea!" We brought back the ingredients to make it at home but have to ration it. We can't wait to see the pictures and hear the stories!
Happy travels!
Shawn and Janice
