Walking the Alishan trails

On our first day in Alishan we walked the giant trees trail and saw some amazing sites. The trees were massive. The fourth picture is of the three-generation tree which has the remains of two trees with a third one growing out of the other two. There is also the Sherri Hall tree with the inscription to be "view and admired"--very appropriate. Finally, you see a beautiful mosaic at the Alishan railroad station depicting the sunrise and other sites. If you ever come to Alishan, make sure to take the train. It takes you through three zones with plants from temperate, sub-tropical and tropical. We went from a cypress forest, to a bamboo forest to palm trees in just over three hours.
