Maolin Village--home to the Rukai aboriginals

This scenic villiage is Maolin in eastern Kaohsiung county. The Rukai is a relatively small tribe, with a population of 7,800 distributed throughout the southern part of Taiwan's Central Mountain Range. On a wall in the village is depicted a traditional wedding of old with the bride and groom and guests bringing gifts of food. The Maolin Scenic Area, ranging from 230 to 2,700 meters above sea level, consists of tree-topped mountains, valleys, sheer cliffs, waterfalls, and hot springs. **The picture of the traditionally-dressed aboriginals was taken from a website: http://www.sinica.edu.tw/tit/scenery/0296_Maolin.html
