English Week at Sheng-li Elementary School

English week is over and what a great but busy time it was. Events included: a spelling contest, recitations and short storytelling, "The Little Red Hen" play, books read in English, and a puppet play. Everyone had a fun time!

Sheng-li 4th-grade Orchestra concert

Saturday night the 4th-grade orchestra gave a concert that included Taiwanese folk songs, western classical music and other Asian songs. It was such fun to see the children who have been practicing in the morning and after school in my room play all together. They did a great job with all of the pieces but the best were the rousing traditional Taiwanese songs and the Japanese cartoon melody. In addition to the students, their private teachers also participated in the concert as part of the orchestra as well as the brass section did a few pieces on their own. Also featured were some very talented soloists such as the young lady playing the xylophone.

A Sheng-li version of YouTube

This is an example of a project that we have been working on at Sheng-li Elementary with some of our 6th graders. This is an introduction to an ordinary day in the life of a 6th grader at Sheng-li Elementary. The featured 6th grader in this video is Jillian. Enjoy!
