Jhaishan Tunnel--Kinmen

The A-shaped Jhaishan tunnel is an underground tunnel that leads directly to the ocean. The tunnel serves to preserve the combat capability of military boats. In case of an attack by main-land China, small military boats such as those seen in the pictures can be hidden and preserved in the tunnel. Up to 42 military boats can fit in the tunnel. The tunnel was dug through granite and is approximately 7 ft in height, 331 ft in length, and 20 ft wide. It is quite a feat of engineering.
