Graduation Day....

This is the short speech that I prepared for graduation:

Good morning 6th Graders!

I'm going to miss saying that each morning. I'm also going to miss hearing "Hello Linda" as you come smiling into the classroom each day!

I have enjoyed teaching all of you this year and am so glad that I had the opportunity to know each of you. I am hopeful that I was able to help you learn English through writing, speaking, reading and listening. I am especially proud of the books we read and wish to quote one my favorite authors--Dr. Suess. Dr. Suess wrote "The Cat in the Hat", "Green Eggs and Ham", and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." He said,

"Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you."

So, be you!! Play music beautifully, continue to learn science and math, read your history, stay healthy, love and honor your family and teachers, and stay in touch with your classmates. But, also, go have adventures and try something new--don't be afraid to fail. We often learn the most through our failures.

So, to quote Dr. Suess again,

"Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So...get on your way."

Go and live a wonderful life.
